International Women’s Day Bermuda [IWD Bermuda] held a virtual celebration today [March 8] to mark the occasion, with Coral Wells being named “Woman Of The Year,” with the award presented by last year’s winner Tami Ray.
The celebration was hosted by Patrina ‘Power Girl’ O’Connor-Paynter, started with a presentation of the IWD ‘Choose To Challenge’ video campaign and included remarks from various people including Premier David Burt and his wife Kristen Burt, Governor Rena Lalgie, McKenzie-Kohl Tuckett, Deshay Caines and more.
The event was held as an online webinar, with people able to leave comments and live raffle giveaways taking place during the event.
The organisers previously said, “This year’s theme is “Choose to Challenge” because change can occur when you make the decision to stand up and challenge the status quo. Individually, we’re all responsible for actions but by working together, we can help make the shift to a more inclusive world.
IWD Bermuda said they “would like to thank its founding sponsor, EY, for its ongoing support of this event, and would also like to recognise and thank its supporting sponsors: Wakefield Quin, Appleby, Willis Towers Watson, Butterfield, Zurich, HSBC and PWC. Part proceeds from this event will be donated to the IWD Bermuda partner, the Women’s Resource Centre.”
